subject: Bike Lane/Car Lane

Hi Phil. I'm not sure if it police were told to get more people to use the
bike path by telling cyclist to get on the lanes. I think in general the
police have other matters to attend to. When you mentioned that the lanes
here are outrageous, I would agree to some extent. But there are lanes that
go through parks and a particular lane that travels to the downtown area that
are regularly maintain. For example the downtown route, the path was
completely repaved - wow. That does not happen often. Usually paths are
created and left to rot with time. Cracks develop and the city will fill them
up only if they feel it is a hazard or perhaps they have received a
complaint. I've noticed a big problem on many paths are sunken man-hole
covers. They are a real danger. The government will supposely spend a lot of
money on new paths this summer, when they should use that money to repair
what they already have.
