That would be a decided improvement over the experience that soured me! 
"Shortly", in my case, 
was 9 weeks the first time and 16 weeks the second time. The last
replacement was the one Jan 
mentioned that is *still* sitting here unused.

The stated reason (excuse) for the delay... the replacement drives
(refurbs) were coming from 
Singapore... BY BOAT!

Again, if true, a decided improvement. As I said, both replacements I
received were refurbs. 
Fortunately, I bought a Seagate (not OEM) drive, with a five year warranty.
All told, including 
the months I waited, I used the thing (or its' first refurb replacement)
for less than 2 years.
