Bob, at 07:28 on Apr 27 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley... BG> Which reminds me, do you remember that fellow Goetz in NY who BG> shot 4 blacks who tried to rob him on a train about 10 years ago? BL> Yair... the hero! Absolutely, although some NMDGs seemed to think that the Charles Bronson approach had become a little unfashionable. Naturally, I disagree. :) BG> Well one of the robbers was completely paralysed as a result BG> and decided to sue for damages. Well he won the case, and just BG> yesterday, a NY court ordered Goetz to pay this black bastard BG> US$54 million. Can you fucking believe that? I'm speechless. BL> Jesus! He should have shot to kill. $54M is such a nice figure. You're not wrong! The really amazing thing was that this black bastard's lawyer was a turncoat white man, and basically said that his victory was a clear message that racism would not be tolerated. I gathered from that comment that it would therefore be quite OK to shoot white men who may or may not be mugging you at the time. Bit of a pity though, when you consider that the absolute vast majority of street muggers in NY are blacks. BL> His best choice is to refuse to pay and go to gaol for 20 years. Dunno what his options actually were either, but given some of the absurdities inherent in the US legal system, chances are that Goetz can likely sue somebody himself, perhaps even the train driver for causing his gun to go off because he was driving too fast on bumpy rails. And by the time judgment is finally passed, Goetz will probably have died from natural causes anyway. BL> I keep saying that Anarchy is closer than we think. Once the Law BL> becomes useless, we just start shooting the fuckers. But where do you draw the line? Can I, for example, shoot my neighbour just because he perves on my pet sheep, or do I have to let him fuck one first? BL> How much use is the law when ordinary people can't afford it, but boongs BL> and crims get free representation? Roll on anarchy. Mind you, there are cetain occasions where you'd be better off without legal aid or the duty solicitor. Take Sam Watson, for example (please)... :) BL> I look forward to it. I have the ideal personality for that (asssuming I BL> don't get shot). For the one person left in the world, anarchy would work just fine IMO.
