 I do this as well.

Yup, that describes my one and only major screwup,
 " cp filename.html /dev/hda1"
 Very ungood.
Better I should have used cp filename.HTML /mnt/target_ directory

I'll look for it in the packages.txt list or on the net.

WC> Knoppix has telnet and I can already write online.

CA> Standard Linux telnet does not include zmodem up/downloading.

 WC> There's a Linux InfoZip? I use Pkzip 2.50 in DOS here.

CA> Yes, you use pkzip in DOS but you won't have access to that

That much I knew, GZIP

FIPS -t will make a copy of the MBR before and after I modify it.

I'll stick with LILO once I transfer it to the drive.

Well I'm working towards all Linix and your help was
 unbelievably welcome :-)
98 will be a fallback OS until I get my Knoppix just
 the way I like.

I've used xcopy32 with appropriate switches as well.

SMTP, POP3, Newsgroups and all that's left is telnet and some
 multimedia apps.

WC> I'm into dark humor. One of my all time favorite movies is
 WC> "Dr. Strangelove."

CA> Yes, mine too and I will miss Peter Sellers particularly dry
CA> humor now that he is no longer with us.

 CA> http://www.undercoverdesign.com/dosghost/faf/psellers.htm

WC> Another favorite is "Catch 22", the book not the movie.

CA> Enjoyed the movie, never read the book. :-)

Book explains bits glossed over in the movie.
Bob Newhart was great and Orson Wells played the general.
The scene with the briefing and lass stroking her leg was worth the
price of the movie :-)
I doubled over laughing when Wells said take him out and shoot him!

CA> Giancarlo Giannini has made many dark comedies one of the ones
CA> I like is "Seven Beauties" (1976), the other is
"Swept Away"
CA> (1975). Marcello Mastroianni did "Dark Eyes" (1987) which is

CA> PBS shows Giannini and Mastroianni movies but not as often as
CA> they once did. Probably best to look in libraries for these
CA> since the 'stars' are 'foreign'. :-)
