Sounds useful for a project like this.

If there's enough general interest in this within the echo I'm happy to
offer the services of my flatbed scanner to generate the necessary images. 
People could send suitable hardcopy images to me and I'll scan 'em and
produce consistent sized images.

Nothing like what you imagine would be my guess.  Nobody that I've met from
this echo has turned out to look like I expected yet...
