My E2864 will hang just about any time online. Won't respond to any typed
command, but will hang up when I press the D/V switch. Sometimes Terminate
will lock up because of this, then I have to shut it down. I can't say for
certain it is the modem, tho. I installed Terminate 3.0 with my E+, then
upgraded to the Elite. The lockups started shortly after that.
My big beef is that I have yet to have a 28k8 connect with any place that I
call. The best I have done is 26k4, but it is usually flakey. I also get
a lot of FCS errors; 230 is not uncommon in one session. FRN retrains happen
a lot, and I usually get a few full retrain requests. I also get the odd
disconnect without warning. ATI2 gives me "FRMR received". Beats me as to
hat
that is. No mention of it in either manual. Lately I don't even connect on
he
first handshake attempt. It usually takes 3-5 attempts, and I end up with a
16k8 or 14k4 v34 connect. I think I'd rather have v32bis connects at that
point.
I was really frustrated using v1.04 firmware, and each successive upgrade has
not shown any improvement for me. v1.09 is currently in use, and still the
same
performance. And with each new firmware release note saying "improved v34
performance", I actually had my hopes up.
I am working with a local sysop to try and figure out what is happening and
f
I get anything relevant out of it I'll let you know.
... Looks like I picked a bad year to stop sniffing glue.
