Won't work, it's designed to force a fresh install if it's a pirated serial number.
What might work is if you can boot a second install, then modify the
product key (see http://www.nthelp.com/40/productid.htm) then boot that
original install and if it boots try an upgrade or maybe run the sid
changer program and try an update install again.
