Would you believe the FTP access, via IE, to a simple UNIX subdir off  your
~home is a complicated subject?  It's very unreliable, varies with IE
version, doesn't work with Mozilla, and seems to depend on ports open, PASV
and the precise *timing* of some (?)handshaking stuff.  I'm beginning to
agree with you guys that this has become too dangerous a world to permit
saving a few bucks by reusing your spare web space.  I'm going to recommend
some trainer-wheels online vendor, like Xdrive.
