I started a SAVINGS GOAL to have $500 by 1 Dec in an account called
OVERDRAFT. This "account" is *separate* from but tied directly into my
checking account; i.e., each account has it's own balance but each
balance is tied into my checking balance. I can contribute and withdraw
funds as needed. I use this account" as my "overdraft protection."
To set up a savings goal:
1. From the Plan menu, choose Savings Goals.
2. Click New.
3. Enter a name, amount, and finishing date for the savings goal. The
name you enter will be the name of the account used to track the
savings goal.
4. Click OK. The Savings Goals window shows your Projected Monthly
Contribution in the lower right corner of the window. This is the
amount that you should set aside each month in order to achieve your
goal.
*How* *can* *I* *see* *my* *actual* *bank* *balance* *when* *I* *have*
*money* *in* *a* *savings* *goal* *account?*
When you set aside money in a savings goal account, Quicken keeps track
of both your actual bank balance (what your bank statement will say) and
the balance of your account without the money you've set aside for your
savings goal.
To see your actual bank balance:
Select the Hide Goal Txns. checkbox in the register of the account
you've contributed money from.
I think this answers your question. Let us know if we can help you
further. :^)
PEACE!!
