-=> Quoting PHIL PATTENGALE to BILL CHRISTENSEN <=- -> There is also "JFactory" from RogueWave (http://www.roguewave.com) -> which is an IDE enviorment for developing Java programs on OS2 PP> This was good news, til I checked out the site and discovered that the PP> only DEMO versions available are WIN32. Oh well. When will people PP> learn. Half-assed attempts to sell to the OS/2 marketplace will meet PP> with half-assed success. What's really strange is why aren't the development tools themselves written in Java? That would make them just as portable as Java is. That would also eliminate the 2.5x price penalty of the OS/2 over the Windows version. I just purchased a copy of Borland C++ 5.0 for a Win32 project I have a contract on. It will also work with Java, however I found it quite crappy (it doesn't use colors for syntax highlighting line it does in C and C++ for some strange reason, and I haven't figured out how to debug with it). However it does have a JIT compiler that boosts performance, so with the benchmark I was using, NT is now 3x faster than OS/2 in Java execution (was 2x).
