HI All, can you hear me? I am looking for recomendations for an editor and a version control system. It is to be used to cross-compile C from OS/2 and/or DOS for an 8051. This is for serious professional use, and my boss might pay if its not ridiculously expensive. I only want to learn one system, so I want it to be very universal. I know about EMACS and RCS. I am not over fond of either. Are there any systems that are easier to learn? I don't want syntax highlighting and bells and whistles. I just want fast loading, line number support and a search and replace facility. I also want the same keys to do the same things under DOS and OS/2, and I want CR/LF to insert and delete like any other char (eg NOT like TEDIT). I prefer text mode programs. I don't want hideous problems with long lines/files, but don't expect many of either. I would like the editor to check the sources in and out of the version control system for me. Andrew ...
