Augustin:
AH> Thank you Struther. Things are indeed progressing nicely, but as
AH>usual, when buying a boat, there are many things to check into - like
AH>making sure I really do own it after I fork over the cash - and not the
AH>government, bank, individual, etc. Far as I know, he didn't pay any PST
AH>when he bought it and I DO want to make sure I don't end up having to pay
AH>it twice!
Yeah, that would definitely be a drag... but anyone who can afford a big
boat like a J E A N N E A U F O R T Y - O N E (!!!) can surely
afford to give the government a little money so they can send it to
Bosnia, or develop atomic weapons for China, or any number of things
other than maintaining our navigation aids and the like!
AH> Umm, yes but I was only kidding . I told you plenty of times that
AH>SYNOPSIS was a fine ship!
You're absolutely right!... SYNOPSIS really "IS" a lovely boat,
but that's not important right now - you should check out
        SYNAPSE!
AH> Absolutely! In fact, I'll be keeping her at the National until I
AH>find good transport to the west coast. I'll fly in every now and then to
AH>go for a sail - rafting for a weekend sounds like a great idea, you dont
AH>mind if I use your battery power to run my stereo do you? .
Speaking of which, you should possibly "fax" a page off to NYC
with Attn: to Paul Bond to ensure you can get a mooring for a
month or two. I doubt you'd be able to get a dock - I don't
even think we have any left. Looking forward to the cruise -
think we can possibly talk Rob into bring Toy Box along for
the sail/weekend?.... better yet, think we could find ANY way
        to stop him?
AH> So, on Saturday, I told Tom I'd think about it and give him a call
ithin
AH>24 hours. I looked at my watch and it read 14:34. I called him at 14:33
AH>on Sunday and put a deposit on her. Shortly after, those guys from Quebec
AH>called to buy her! Yikes, good thing I decided when I did!
Yeas, Sheila told me that after you spoke to her on Monday
night... what was that thread a bunch of us (Toronto AND
Vancouver) were talking about a couple of months ago about
how DUMB SHIT LUCKY you are!
AH> I was really quite embarassed when I was talking to the bank and they
AH>asked me to "please spell "Jeanneau" - you KNOW how I have problems with
AH>that word!
Don't worry - it comes with practice. It's much the same as
        trying to spell Rolls Royce!
AH>Thanks again for coming out with me to take a look - it was
AH>helpful and appreciated.
No problem at all (unless you count as a problem that you
took me away from National and SYNAPSE for almost a WHOLE
Saturday when I could have, should have, been working on
my own boat instead of looking over yours... so that if my
boat is not ready for launch on May 3 then I can blame it
all on you!). As I said to you on Saturday - I can think
of nothing finer than assisting to spend someone else's
money so thay can be boat-poor just like the rest of us!
