-> I can't believe just how stupid Cleveland is and more importantly,
-> how they can expect any of their players to buy any of their baloney.
-> Albert Belle (and several other players) did the organization a favor
-> and instead of repaying Belle, the organization tried to get Belle to
-> sign for less. When it became apparent that he wouldn't, they went
-> out and traded for Williams. Now, I respect Williams but unless he's
-> going to be a permanent DH, they really screwed up this one. He's
-> been injury prone the last few years and I don't think that he gives
-> them what Belle does. Like it or not, Indians' fans, your team bought
-> second place the moment they traded for Williams.
I'm not as sure as you are that Cleveland would have been wise to outbid
the WSox for Belle. He's likely had his best years and has now locked
up $10+ M a year for 5 years. No one is suggesting that Williams is as
good a hitter as Belle and considering that Cleveland had a whopping
offer on the table for Belle *after* they'd already traded for Williams,
it doesn't look like they were trying to lose Belle. Also, I'd heard
somewhere that Williams' injuries were of the non-recurring type.
nything to this?
And let's see what else Cleveland does in the off-season. Belle is a
huge loss but they still have quite a few good players.
