And so it came to pass, on 07-06-96 20:00,
that BOB ALLMAN spake unto Rob Appleyard:
BA> Rob, Your the first whose had a personal listen to those new subs
BA> by Pioneer that fit into the spare tire, etc. Frankly I'm not
BA> surprised.
I've heard them in a showroom... they sound about as good as you'd expect for
low-frequency drivers in a plastic shell :)
BA> Like Bonnie, I'm not interested in having a boom car, but rather
BA> clean bass reproduction. Unfortunately, with a 2 seater sports
BA> car, the biggest I could fit without interfering with something
BA> would be 6.5" tubes.
Ick!
BA> If they'd help extend low frequency response I'd be satisfied; but
BA> boom NOPE!
You won't get any kind of "audiophile-quality" output from generic bass
tubes. Even in something as cramped as a Fiero or MR2, there's plenty that
can be done to custom-build a decent enclosure for a quality sub.
What kind of car do you have?
IKEA ... Swedish for "particle board."
