subject: REXX stuff...

Whenever I had a long list of OS/2 files to send to the mainframe, I used a
CMD file to strip off the path to create the mainframe file name. I did
something like this:

        parse var PCFILE  FILEID "\" rest;
            do while rest  "";
            parse var FILEID  FILEID "\" rest;
            end;

and upon exit, the FILEID variable contains the file name without the path.
 This was particularly helpful if I wanted to retain the path tokens. Of
course, you could always substring the file name, use the LASTPOS function
to find the last "\" in the file name, and substring from there:

        fileid = substr(pathplusfileid, lastpos("\", pathplusfileid)+1);

presuming that you have already checked for the existence of the
"\" in the fileid.

And, yes, there is a REXX echo called OS2REXX. B-)
