-> ->> Mine is the 1957 FireDome model, only the little 340 hemi. There -> ->> _was_ a 2Dr. -> ->> 'Sport' model that had the 392. -> TW> NOT according to the www.thehemi.com site -> TW> The Largest DeSoto Hemi engine was the 1957 345 CI. -> They've got a typo there somewhere, I never heard of a 345. Well all the 345 Engine parameters, Bore Stroke etc, are on the web site. And that Info can be conformed on other sites. -> My original shop manual and serial number says I have the "small" engine at -> 340. I've even got the stamp on the first main journal telling that the -> factory screwed up and cut the #1 journal undersize. That only happened on one -> run of the 340. The 341 Engine was used in the 1956/57 DeSotos. I see NO reference to a 340 -> The reason I got the shop manual was that even back in 1963 no parts houses -> could tell what was under the hood. Chrysler spent a lot of effort swapping -> things around in those days. The HEMI engines were basicly ALL unique to the Car lines, Chrysler/DeSoto/Dodge, and VERY FEW engine parts were interchangable becasue the castings were different. The limited interchange between the engines are listed o nthat web site. And the DeSoto line was the Hemi Engine with the LEAST interchangability.. You might want ot browse that web site. It is Very interesting and Infornmative on the Hemi engine lines. For a teaser the Smallest Hemi was the Dodge 241 CI engine and the Largest was the Chrysler 426 CI It was a later production run as the Origional Hemi engine series went out of production in 1958 and was used in a Chrysler. The DeSoto and Dodge series ended in 1957. The 426 was introduced in 1966 and ran until 1971 It was a common engine production run and used by both Dodge and Plymouth in addition to the Chryslers. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/1324 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
