Hi Rod, I was looking forward to continuing this converstaion. So, what is your background? You sound somewhat more educated than most. Or are you just well read? If you know what I mean. Economics is just common sense of you ask me. I remeber the first economic principle I learned was called "the velocity of money" which means that one dollar spent today can go a long way as it passes through the hands of many others in exchange for goods and sevices along the way. Its a real pity that the government doesn't know that. The press are even worse. Have you read "Unlimited Wealth" by Paul Zane Pilzer. If not, I'd love to lend it to you, so we could go on to discus some of the finer points of what the economic debate relly should be. Wealth, comes from trade. The more people trade, the more wealth there will be. This is a little narrow, because in real terms a country's wealth is determined by its Resources x its Technology. Pilzer compares today to the Alchemists of old. His arguments surrounds the fact that technology makes resouces go further and that in fact resources are unlimited. We haven't run out of oil yet, despite the fact that in 1974 they said we only had 20 yrs supply left. What they forgot to tell us was that that figure was based on known reseves at that time and didn't take technology advances in car fuel injection systems into account. I rest my case. Looking forward to continuing a discussion with you. Perhaps some of the better informed will join us... Regards, John ...
