| subject: | Re: packet loss problem worsening |
Well, NewlyMintedNetworkGuy just returned my call. He said he set up the
monitoring tool on Friday to monitor everything between me and the server
but the graphical display on the intranet isn't complete. He said he would
be able to see the detail data on his desktop if he came in.
In response to my question as to what is between me and the 6509, he said
there is a switch there, but if I understood him correctly it has 8 ports
and each port has a different IP address and he doesn't have the
information as to which is which at home so he couldn't tell me the IP
address.
It turns out the 3600 isn't between me and anything, it's between the
locations outside this building and this building.
I offered to set up the ping test on whichever boxes are applicable in
order to test the hardware between here and the server, he indicated that
wasn't necessary because the monitoring tool is monitoring.
However, they set up monitoring on my #2 desktop rather than the other
desktop where I have the ping test running.
Despite the fact that I explained that network traffic is going to increase
substantially tomorrow because server #2 is going to have 450 users hitting
it who weren't hitting it before, he said he was going to look at the
monitoring results tomorrow morning. After I then said "So whatever
happens tomorrow morning is going to happen?" he said he would call
the NT admin and they would come over later today.
I feel nauseous.
