| subject: | Frontdoor Mailer over Telnet |
ML>> ok, like i stated earlier, this is likely because ML>> FD v2.12's terminal specifically hides it... no ML>> other terminal does or did... only FD 2.12's, TJM> NO, NO, NO. When I DIAL to someone running fd 2.12 TJM> to enter the BBS it does not show the IEMSI line. "it"?? what is "it"? IEMSI is sent by the BBS, not the mailer... TJM> When I dial someone running 2.2x it does NOT show TJM> the IEMSI line. again, what is "it"? IEMSI is sent by the BBS, not the mailer... TJM> When I dial someone running 2.3x (such as myself), TJM> it DOES. and again, what is "it"? IEMSI is sent by the BBS, not the mailer... TJM> What aren't you getting here? for one thing, i'm not getting what "it" is... what is "it" that shows or doesn't show the line you are speaking of and at what point are you seeing that line? before or after hitting ESC twice... if you're seeing this line before hitting ESC twice, then it is the EMSI line... EMSI is sent by the mailer... there's no leading I in it... if you are seeing the line after hitting ESC twice, then it is the IEMSI line that is sent by the BBS software... that's another thing that i'm not getting... which is it, EMSI or IEMSI, that is being discussed... gotta use the proper terms for what we're talking about... from my side, it appears that we've jumped from EMSI to IEMSI and back once or twice but the complaint has been the same... so now we're down to picking the nits and figuring out exactly what it is that is being discussed... TJM> That's with FDTERM, mTEL, or windows Telnet.exe .... it's TJM> just something that wasn't "hidden" when 2.3x was compiled. TJM> I just stated I wish there would be a new compile to "hide" TJM> this from the user end such as 2.12, and 2.2x did. ok, i just hopped on to the linux box so that i'd have a truely unmodified session and telnetted to my system... here's what i see... # telnet bbs.wpusa.dynip.com Trying x.x.x.x Connected to bbs.wpusa.dynip.com. Escape Character is '^]'. FrontDoor 2.33.mL.b2/AE000066; MultiLine **EMSIblahblahblah Press twice for No. American RA Support Site i can, at this point, only surmise that you are speaking of the line above the "Press " line... is this correct? how's about also trying this... make sure that your terminal(s) are set to ASCII instead of ANSI and try those 2.12 and 2.2x systems again and let's make sure if you're not seeing it due to ANSI codes setting it to black on black... i don't have v2.12 or v2.2x here to test with or i'd do it, too... once we figure out why it wasn't seen before, we /might/ have a chance to hide it again... maybe, maybe not... it depends on the line you are seeing, EMSI or IEMSI... )\/(ark* Origin: (1:3634/12) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 3634/12 106/2000 633/267 |
