BL> I've noticed that you repond much quicker now. Have you removed a delay? PE> No I haven't. I haven't made any changes until PE> Thursday midday, when I made a massive change. PE> BTW, the above statement is innaccurate. Although the original PE> was about removing a delay, I should have said something like PE> "no change to my mailer, anyway", rather than just "no change", PE> because I had changed the modem from debugging info on to off. OK, I cant say I ever saw any visible change as far as the debugging info was concerned when you were running BTPE over a long time. Effect was very obvious with 2.60, from my end it just bangs straight into sending my outgoing PKT with no real visible pause at all after FroDo belts up the status display once a connect is achieved. RS> Yeah, I've noticed that the upload of my outgoing PKT gets going RS> a LOT faster now. Frodo does an audible BLIP and now the upload RS> is already underway once it does. Previously you could see a RS> few lines of your mailers 'press escape' crap, and there was a RS> noticeable pause before the upload was underway thats gone now. PE> Yeah, 1.5 seconds negotiation is about what everyone else is getting. Yeah, thats what it looks like from my logs. One real deficiency with the FroDo log is that its only got a 1 second resolution which is a pity when looking at that detail. I might Awk the logs and do some stats. BL> except I've noticed that you are faster to respond now. PE> Seems like 2.60 is working OK, I'm going to PE> start using a version with my mods in it now. RS> Just dont inhale for christ sake. You are bad enough already. PE> Pardon? Inhale? Welp, if you murder pigeons before you start inhaling, god knows what you might be capable of if you start inhaling. PE> Bad enough at making changes? What are you adding that was missing from the standard 2,60 ? PE> I did let you all know that when Binkley 2.60 came in, I PE> would be using it, and then when I finally got it, I put it in PE> unmodified for a day, and I told you all what I was doing too. Yeah, yeah, it was only a snide remark, not meant to be taken seriously. PE> It is unfortunate that I wish to do two rare things here: PE> 1. Run a reliable mail service PE> 2. Develop software I think you should be publicly whipped, is there no limit to your depraved and utterly corrupt behaviour ? PE> And the second basically compromises the first. Yeah, its always been one of the real paradoxes in computing. PE> On the other hand, you can argue that since day 1 I never PE> had reliable-enough software, and ever since then, I have PE> been developing software that I had control over. Ah, a control freak. Today sydney, tomorrow the world. PE> In the main, it's worked. You can't quote too many instances of PE> lost mail due to my end. You can quote failed sessions though. True, your system has been pretty good reliability wise. And very fast to recover from what glitches there have been. Corse now you have been bragging it will all go bang in the MOST spectacular fashion, 75% of the mail will go missing and it will all end in tears. @EOT: ---* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
