RG>Why ? Is then any reason that you know of why it would run any slower RG>than ARC or LHZ ? (go on, tell me you were being sarcastic again). Well I think when I wrote that I meant slow as compared to an ibm which takes a few seconds to compress a 64k file. Maybe it was sarcasm (: ES> anything about compression I'd do it but I don't so I won't (: RG>Ditto. Well if you have the programming ability, what do you use it for? (: RG>Nah... ARC (or SDA) is more of a standard than LBR (where have you RG>been hiding for the last 10 years?) Actually I take that back, I'm using Ultimate Lynx v2 (whatever that means). ARC is rather difficult to use (& slower than the others). btw, you (I think) mentioned that SDA's can only be created on a 128 with a ram expansion. Not 'quite' true (: I can create them on my 64, the problem is they dont work when you run them I have this vauge memory of creating SDA's ages ago on my 64, but my memory is a bit sus (: RG>Nope, you can easily create ARC's of ANY size. RG>Dissolving them with only one drive will still be a problem, but you RG>are in the same situation even if we had ARJ or ZIP. Hmm.. what we need is something that works like LNX except compresses the files, so you can do an entire disk into one small file & expand it again with one drive. I guess ZIP comes close.. ES> RG>here (not that there is any BBS with decent CBM support RG>anyway). ES> Yeah, well I cant do much about that (: RG>Me neither... I did try though (was rather succesful too) Explain? cya, Strobe/Menace --- Ezycom V1.05 03fa0008* Origin: WOW BBS - Commodore Suport, Sydney's West (3:713/888) SEEN-BY: 50/99 54/54 640/316 711/807 808 809 934 712/623 713/317 700 805 888 @PATH: 713/888 54/54 711/808 809 |
