BILL TRACY said to DOUG WILSON on 02-23-97: =========================================== BT| Here in the Boston area yesterday we had record outside temperatures of 2 | degrees F instead of the cold weather at a normal of 25 degrees F. The resul | of the unusually hot weather using TELIX on a 14,400 Baud modem the other | local BBS in our area would not hand shake once connected. They worked fine | at 2400 baud. Today now that the Weather temperatures are normal TELIX is | also working normal. BT| Did U ever hear of such a thing? The modems will negotiate the highest speed connection the quality of the current connection will support. Really is a modem-to-modem thing that the communications program doesn't have anything to do with. Possibly the rapid temperature change caused some condensation in the system somewhere that affected connection quality.. or something.. Talk to your telco ...
