-> Strictly speaking, you're right--I've made the pilgrimage to Forest
-> Lawn, too.
I wanted to take pictures and videotape of the garden where Walt's ashes
were scattered, but I thought that would show poor taste in a place like
Forest Lawn. Too bad, too, because my wife's never seen it and my memory
probably isn't good enough to find it again. I DID photograph the Disney
stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but it's not the same thing.
->
-> OTOH, if any man of this century is living beyond the death of his
-> original body, Walt Disney is that man. Even during his lifetime,
-> Walt was moved to remark that he wasn't "Walt Disney" anymore, that
-> "Walt Disney" had become something more than just the man.
->
That's true. The name Disney came to be something completely different
than the man himself. Today people can say Disney all the time without
it really having anything to do with Walt. He was smart enough to know
that the name had become something much bigger (and different) than the
real man.
->
-> To all of us who honor his memory with our enjoyment of his art and
-> his playgrounds, to all of those who work to keep the magic alive,
-> and to all to come who will smile because of Walt Disney--the man or
-> the myth-- Walt Disney will always be alive. We should each hope to
-> gather enough pixie dust to live as well, and to spread as much joy
-> as he.
Thats's also very true. I would just rather remember the man separately
from what has been created in his name since his death. Don't get me
wrong - I love the new parks and movies and characters and TV and stuff
- but I see them very separately from projects Walt actually took part
in.
