March's Bicycling magazine featured 20 great bike trips that you
don't have to plan...commercial trips that had prices from about
$150.00 to $200.00 dollars per day. Some of the daily miles
listed were only 20-35. Cost per mile is pretty expensive. Too
rich for me.
For the last eight years year the Longview, Texas bicycle has
sponsored a seven day bike tour on June 1-7. This years trip
covers about 450 miles in NE Texas and NW Louisana. Each days ride
is about 50-75 miles long but can sometimes be shortened or
lengthened by the individual. Indoor camping (school gyms as
well as outdoor camping is available. Registration fee is
$80.00 prior to May 1. Optional meal plan for breakfast and
dinner is $80.00. Total cost for seven days is less than one
day's cost on some of the Bicycling rides.
The ride will include piney woods, lakes and rolling hills, National
Forests, jail houses with gallows, antebellum homes and even a Civil
War battlefield.

PS. Do any of you Canadians know on any tours of this type in
Canada?
