I did some experimenting with extended formats on floppies some
years ago. It's really trial and error to find out if your
particular drive will allow the extra tracks. Some 'bump' the
stop detent and won't do it, others do not. No way of knowing
even among a particular manuf if the drive will do it until you
try.
