DT> MS>DT> Probably true....and perhaps we have given some students a
DT> reason
DT> MS>DT> to lag
DT> MS>DT> behind by giving them a label on which to cling. I remember
DT> as a
DT> MS>DT> student teacher overhearing one student say "I can't help it,
DT> Im
DT> MS>DT> ADD."
DT>
DT> MS> Ever notice how few kids fail the classroom part of driver ed?
DT> MS>Ever notice how few kids fail the written part of the drivers'
DT> MS>license exam? You are correct: motivation has a lot to do with
DT> MS>it, and we shouldn't forget that. The trick is making kids think
DT> MS>that the math test is as important as the drivers' ed test.
DT>
DT> Easier said than done....I just looked through my son's Physics book.
DT> He's a high school senior. A driver's ed manual looks a lot more
DT> appealing and certainly much easier for the average Joe
But nearly _every_ HS kid takes drivers' ed and the license test, while
only a small portion of a typical HS's student body ever takes physics and it
is a self-selected group of above-average students.
