PT>-> A few seconds. It depends upon the number of messages and the
PT>-> size of the message base. This is as long as the PC I run it on
PT>-> has the files stored on a local drive, not a network drive. I
PT>-> have a Windows 2000 server that holds all of PCBoard's files and
PT>-> message base. I run tossing jobs on the server. They run very
PT>-> quick there. Once in awhile I will kick the batch jpb off
PT>-> manually from a workstation and then tossing occurs across the
PT>-> network. That takes longer on some echoes with very large message
PT>-> bases, where I keep a year's worth of messages. How long are you
PT>-> keeping your messages and do you run a regular job to purge them
PT>-> down to something manageable ?

PT>My XP and Windows Server 2003 Release 2 have 512 megabyte of memory
PT>and I am using the current version of Tame with all the current
PT>Service packs and fixes installed on both machines. I am using
PT>Pcboard Version 15.3.

PT>ISome of the message bases only have 300 to 2,000 messages and I
PT>tried increasing the block in the pcbsetup but that did not really
PT>make any difference. I am using the standard install of XP so I have
PT>been messing around with this one problem for the past three weeks,
PT>and I am not really making any progress with it.

PT>So I am trying to figure out what is different with the system
PT>configuration between your machine machine and mine and see if I can
PT>figure out what is causing the problem..

Are you running your tossing jobs as a command file or a batch file ? I
run mine as a Windows command file called fidonet.cmd . I am running
Tame version 3.31 . Other than that I do nothing special. I am
running Windows 2000 SP4.
