It's just a kernel boot message that appears when ramdisk support is
compiled into the kernel. You can then at maximum have 16 ramdisks at once.
If you compile ramdisk support as a module, the number can be influenced by
a module parameter (if I remember correctly, that is). No space is actually
allocated unless the ramdisk is used (read or write).
