subject: Possible Virus?

Hi all:
Since I have never had a virus infection, I don't know if what I'm
experiencing falls in that catagory.
Here is what is happening with one of my virtual Machines.
In the boot process three quarters the way through I start getting
errors that say that the Boot handler cannot find 10 files and the
Swap Disk.
Of these 11 items, 7 are started with a DEVICE= statments. One is an
IFS= statment and 2 are RUN= statments.
The next surpprise is a TRAP E, and tells me that the guilty part(y)
is a Device Driver with a name of SINGLEQ$.
Did a file search but didn't cum up with anything.
Another interesting tidbit: I tried doing a CHKDSK on the down system
and got a "Drive in use" message. I got the same message on the SWAP
drive.
The SWAPPER.DAT was humungus. In the neighborhood of 100Mb.
Upon deleting the SWAPPER.DAT file CHKDSK no longer said the drives
were in use.
Here is something else that defies logic:
The following is taken from CONFIG.SYS in the order in which they appear.
     DEVICE=d:\tcpip\bin\vdostcp.vdd  (not found)
     DEVICE=d:\tcpip\bin\vdostcp.sys  (found)

     DEVICE=D:\MPTN\PROTOCOL\SOCKETS.SYS  (found)
     DEVICE=D:\MPTN\PROTOCOL\AFOS2.SYS    (found)
     DEVICE=D:\MPTN\PROTOCOL\AFINET.SYS   (found)
     DEVICE=D:\MPTN\PROTOCOL\IFNDIS.SYS   (not found)
The "not found" files are there. I checked.
Does anybody have any ideas?
