subject: Transom Swim Steps

Hi Y'all:
Has anyone out there had any experience in heavy (especially following)
seas on a boat with a transom swim step? I am talking about the
walk-through type that are molded into the hull like on the Hunter 280.
They sure look nice and convenient, but I wonder if I might not think
differently after a good blow. Also, it seems that most designs simply
rob alot of room out of the cockpit.
