RS> If it is so easy...there is no excuse for NOT RS> including a multi-threaded cout and cin for those of RS> use who are new to C++. What IBM actually deliver is USL iostreams v2.x with only minor hacks to support binary handles, no other embellishments or changes. It is fairly clear that IBM have no major plans to support or encourage development of text mode apps. 'cout' and 'cin' are of course text mode only. Their emphasis is clearly GUI, so I would imagine that what you ask may be well the bottom on their priorities list, if indeed it is there at all. That's just reading between the lines, of course - I may well be completely wrong. All I'm suggesting is not to hold your breath waiting. What i did point out, however, is that if you really need it, you don't have to rewrite the library to do it, only derive classes which include the necessary functionality. You're free to complain if you like, but that doesn't often help get the job done any quicker. regards, david --- Maximus/2 2.01wb* Origin: Unique Computing Pty Limited (3:632/348) SEEN-BY: 12/2442 54/54 620/243 624/50 632/301 348 365 633/379 635/503 640/820 SEEN-BY: 690/660 711/409 413 430 807 808 809 934 942 712/353 623 713/888 SEEN-BY: 800/1 @PATH: 632/348 711/409 54/54 711/808 809 934 |
