FWIW - when the lists were first setup (after the demise of the BMT hosted
lists), the 
header was in the subject line.

At the time (almost 3 years ago), the consensus was that people wanted the
list to behave 
like the BMT lists - which did NOT have the list name in the subject; and
the configuration 
was changed.

Just to give you some background - as others have pointed out - it isn't
too difficult with 
most email programs to search on the headers rather than the subject line.
