Actually, nothing.. You see, in Japan, the N64 is in 3dr place (PSX being in
first, and Saturn in 2nd) So over there, Nintendo NEEDs the 64DD, so they are
going to launch it over there. While in America, Nintendo is in 2nd place, so
the Nintendo of Japan are saying: Nintendo is having a pretty good time in
America, so why waste tons of money to make the imports and all that for 
them..
When they don't really need it.. So the 64DD might never come to America..
As for the storage space, that's going to be 2 times the space of a Cartrgide
(meaning 64 megs or in Nintendo "space" 256 megs)..
Rumors say that it's going to have a price tag of 70$ in America, but how can
they say taht, since the President himself hasn't declared a price tag yet in
Japan.. so like I said.. Rumors..
