I really never had any direct exposure to anyone with DS until our son. 
I'm a very positive person in general, so I was sure he would exceed
everyone's expectations.  What I had thought was odd was how negative the
healthcare professionals were concerning the situation.  Not all of them
are like that, but our initial confrontation with them was not a good one.

I have always enjoyed being able to prove people wrong and exceed
expectations - and my son is exactly the same.. :)
