It looks like you can ignore it quite safely.  The warning stems from
the fact that the instruction (like most others that refer to memory)
will use DS as the segment by default, so the `ds:' part isn't really
necessary.  If you want to get rid of the warning, you should be able to
use:
    cmp byte ptr [si-2], 43
and it'll do exactly the same thing, but with no warning.
