Stephen Frazier gave up a long homer to Otis Nixon and said:
SF> the team to the point at which they actually might score more runs. When
SF> SmoltZ pitches, I would imagine the Braves hitters are more confident.
Horse manure. Do you honestly believe that the Braves have more confidence in
Smoltz than they do Maddux? Maddux has had the lowest run support on the
Braves for every year but one and he finished second worst that year. There's
no way in hell that the team was more confident with Smoltz on the mound. If
anything, it shows that they feel that they have to work their butts off to
get a win for Smoltz.
SF> about the ripoff of Todd Hollandsworth for Rookie of the Year over
SF> Jermaine Dye.
Rip off? I'm a Braves' fan and I feel that Todd deserved the award.
SF> They both hit 12 homers(?), and even though Todd drove in
SF> more runs, he played the entire season, hitting leadoff while Dye
SF> played half a season hitting 7th or 8th.
Which, if it were true, would show how much better Todd was in RBI situations
since there are fewer RBI to be had as a leadoff hitter. In actuality, Todd
hit 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th. Anywhere he was needed in the lineup, he went
without whining and he did his job.
