Of course that is doable but I'd like them to just offer
a second winding on the torroid and spec the switching transistors
for both current and voltage ratings to suit either input.
I'd spend a few bucks more for this option.

Monitors should have this option too.
Just about everything that uses any current to speak of uses switchers
with torroid transformers these days for efficientcy so what't
the big hairy deal?
