CF| I've noticed that the IDE is a bit slow, but I haven't noticed it being | slow to the point of seeing my screen redrawn. I'm running a 486/40 | with 16megs ram, and a diamond speedstar vid card(at least 2 1/2 years | old). When I open up "Compiler Options", it's rather slow (taking a couple of two to pop up), but it's bearable and has kept me from having to learn WMAKE's makefile format so far... CF| The thing that really bothered me about the new IDE is that it | uses the epm editor which really sucks. I end up using the Windows ide, See my preceding message that tells you how to change the editor to whatever OS/2 editor you want by editing the IDE.CFG file in the \WATCOM\BINB subdirectory. I use QEdit/2 for my editor in the OS/2 host IDE. CF| can't even print from it. Another complaint is I think the editor | should be part of the IDE like Turbo C/C++. IDE does stand for | Integrated development environment doesn't it. I disagree...I want to be able to plug in whatever editor I choose. I hate being forced into someone else's editor, whose keystrokes are non-standard and/or WordStar 3.3 format. As a matter of fact, I *like* Watcom's IDE, which is a big leap for me, since I hate IDE's in general. I've used TC, BC, MSC DOS compilers through the years, and never used the IDEs, Workbenches or whatever they were called...I used QEdit/TSE and their MAKE utility. Watcom's IDE looks (to me) more like a graphical MAKE facility, which suits me just fine... --- þ QMPro 1.52 þ clap on clap off ½¯¬’•˜§...NO CARRIER --- FidoPCB v1.5 beta-'j'* Origin: BB-P * 919-557-3845 * 900 megs * USRobotics HST/V.FC (1:151/106) SEEN-BY: 12/2442 54/54 620/243 624/50 632/348 640/820 690/660 711/409 413 430 SEEN-BY: 711/807 808 809 934 942 712/353 623 713/888 800/1 @PATH: 151/106 1000 1002 3615/50 229/2 12/2442 711/409 54/54 711/808 809 934 |
