I'm not a big fan of Hanson or pop music for that matter, but it I must say
that despite the fact that the song only has a couple of chords it does take
talent to write a song that people like. Look at the Beatles. Most of their
songs are really basic chord progessions. Daniel Johns of Silverchair when
he was interviewed during the Much Music Intimate and Interactive said,
"Simple is best." I agree with him. The most common problem with
ambitious,
songwriting wannabes" is that they think songs should be the most complex
extravagant thing in world jam-packed with 50 billion different riffs, fills,
and solos. Try to write something as decent a Hanson has and maybe you'll be
rich and famous as well.
