Not meaning to sound to much like a smart *** but do you eat in a restraunt ?
you pay for that don't you ? How about the gas in your car or the telephone 
in your house ?
Sysops pay for alot of expenditures to put up a bbs like the programs that 
run on the computers , the door programs and all the programs that run in the 
background . so the average investment is about 700.00 in programs alone .
then there is the phone lines 20-50 dollars a month per line .
also lets not forget that just about all sysops actually pay the hub that 
they link up to to usualy about 10.00 a month . so I personaly think that
a
charge is waranted and if you want to use the board then contribute .
If the sysops have a problem with the way they interreact with the customers 
then that is a problem they need to deal with . But I suspect from the 
wording of your notes and actions it would be better for you to start and run 
your own bbs .
btw lets not forget the computers and the time put in to setting up and 
running it . jim
