There is virtually nothing you can do to prevent them except having a low profile (opposite of marketing your company/site). A spammer might pick a domain at random because the name sounds good. Another theory I have is that someone who replies to a spammer with epithets and gets through and hits a nerve will find themselves the source E-mail of the next spam runs. To mitigate them - I created a script to search bounces that include the original header and spam, and forward them to SpamCop after a quick review for validity. After about 4 days it will stop. I don't know if this is the typical lifetime of a joejob, or it it takes them that long to realize that continuing that joejob only blacklists their precious trojan army as soon as they start sending. You can also follow the money trail - complain to the merchant who processes payments at the site. Chances are that the merchant doesn't care, but it's worth a try. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
