Hi Steven, > Michiel, on the other hand, thinks this is a great idea. In another post, he > pointed me to a whole net in Zone 2 full of ".Pvt,..." nodes. >> Or he could always dial up his isp, get connected to the internet >> and contact you _directly_ via binkp.. and disconnect from his isp >> when he's done. I used the internet in that manner for quite a >> while before I got a domain set up for 24/7 internet activity. > I did not use BinkP but I used Ka9Q that way for years. Yes, I know others who did the same. The point is, if a node is online 24/7, and you want to contact him or her, you can. It's a matter of a willingness and ability to match protocols, _just_ like you do with modems and landline communications. >> I think there's just no excuse for making an internet node Pvt when >> he or she is online and reachabe 24/7 just like a pots node. > But what do we do then? Use the "HOLD" kludge in FTS5000/1 or use the > "000-..." kludge in the telephone field? Or will "-Unpublished-" in the > telephone field compile if the "Pvt" flag is not used? For a node like yours that has no pots cabability, I would get rid of the 1- in the telephone field, and you really don't need your domain name following the IBN flag since you've got it in the bbs name field. ,67,northof60.tzo.com,Whitehorse_YK,Steven_Horn,000-000-000,300,CM,MO,IBN With the new INA flag we're testing, you could make your entry: ,67,bbsname,Whitehorse_YK,Steven_Horn,000-000-000,300,CM,MO,INA:north of60tzo.com,IBN As above, you get to put your bbs name back in the nodelist Take care, Janis --- BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag-4* Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38) SEEN-BY: 120/544 123/500 261/38 633/260 262 267 270 285 634/383 640/954 654/0 SEEN-BY: 690/682 771/4020 774/605 2432/200 7105/1 @PATH: 261/38 123/500 774/605 633/260 285 |
