I have 3 separate Usenet sources.  It happens with each of them.

They say in their system requirements that it works with XP and XP
Pro.  I have the latter

They started with a distributor in one of the Dakotas years back. It
was called AVP at the time.  You can still find an AVP file inside the
present day version of the AV.
