subject: V90 question

I've been hearing about the new v90 standard for 56K modems. What I would
like to know is if the current 56K modems are compatable with this new
standard. I'm thinking about buying a 56K modem. I bought an Amjet 33.6K USR
clone modem about 6 months ago, and have found that it works just as well as
a
USR Sportster. Amjet also makes 56K X2, and 56K Flex modems as well all at a
very good price. The cheapest I have seen so far.
I'd like to purchase one, but now that this new standard is being
impimented, I'm not sure if I'd be purchasing a dead product. It does support
Flash ROM upgrading, but being that it is priced cheap, support is also a
cheap quality item. Would I beable to use the X2, or Flex protocol with an
ISP
who uses the v90 standard?
                        Thank you.
... Any fool can moderate, and many of them do.
