-> TW> Well they had a leg up becasue Japan was basicly Small Car Country.
-> TW> In fact what tyhey imported into this country in those days as a Small
-> TW> Car was really Midsize to Large over there.

-> That I know. But, take a look at their response time when people
-> wanted "muscle" cars again. They beat the US competion by at
-> least a full year.

Well that is for many years the Japanese have been DEEP into "Hot
Rodding"(Using a term forn MY genration. you would be amaised the Parts
they have not legal for importation into the US. And also for many years
they have built Showroom cars that were not importable that have very
respectable ET's and 1/4 mile times. And some of their somewhat small
dis[placement cars set up for the Drag Strip can embarras the so called
Muscle Cars. Of cpourse theri engiens don't last as long but what counts
is WHO reaches the end of the strip First. :-) :-)

As for the "Hot" they quickly sent to our market an nthe development was
already done.
All they had to do was Tweek some of those parts a little and meet out
laws for import.

-> TW> Also a note of Trivia about Japanese car owners. In most cities you
-> TW> had to have offstreet parking before you can even buy a car.
-> TW> And they are pretty clever in the ways they got it. One scheme is a
-> TW> pole with a Hoise built in. you drive your 360CC car onto it and an
-> TW> electric motor raises it up off the Street.

-> I've seen those! And, IIRC, they use them in Europe as well.

I wish they had laws like that in some of our Califronia Neighborhoods.
Those Three and Four car Families are creating a Parking Nightmare.
