Personally I think you're crazy for suggesting that, but then aren't we all?
BIOS is the simplest way to change video modes, but the SLOWEST way to draw 
o
the video.  I don't have such a card, but you could try disassembling your
BIOS for it, and find out that way (set up a routine to call it preceded by a
pushf instead of an interrupt call, since this way your debugger should be
able to trace it.)
