HTML is the preferred format when you want to save all the links to 'other' information embedded within the text. If your primary source for text is the Internet then saving HTML pages makes some sense if there are many links to other pages. Saving text from FIDO echos, for instance, does not require HTML formatted files. :-) WC> PDF, bleck. HTML is as portible a document file as I need. WC> Seems Open Office saves in .doc format as well so Abiword WC> is no big deal now. The options of StarOffice, OpenOffice, AbiWord, and others is a personal decision based on the user interface more than any other factor would be my guess. --8<--cut WC>>> The syntax for telnet transfers is going to take some WC>>> research on my part. All Linux software is either 'fast' CA>> or 'powerful'. I wonder if this is really true and CA>> compared to what? WC> Once I've got a handle on this I may hack it down somewhat WC> drastically. What I've done in the past with W31 was to archive anything I thought I didn't need and move it to a directory called "offload". As this directory began to grow I would review what was in there, delete what I was certain I would never want, then copy the rest to floppies (today I burn to CDs). Occasionally I would uncompress the archive back into the system and give it one more try before deciding to keep it or get rid of it. :-) > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
