I had a computer die on me yesterday, and I had to move the hard drive =
from that computer to a new box/motherboard combo. This hard drive has =
several partitions. C for Win98 boot; G for main Win2K boot, and H for = a
secondary test kind of Win2K boot. I had nothing but the normal = expected
problems when firing up this Hard Disk in the new box, but = after a little
time I got Win98 to recognize all the new hardware, = install the drivers,
etc., and viola the Win98 C drive portion of this = Hard Disk now boots
like it never left the old machine.
I had hoped Win2K would go similarly, but it doesn't. I get blue screen =
of death before boot process completes with an error message that the =
boot drive is inaccessible. At first I thought this might be due to the =
drive letters changing, so I hid one of the partitions before G and H so =
that these partitions would still be G: and H: partitions. This did not =
help at all.
Should this work? Is what I'm trying to do possible with Win2K? Maybe =
Win2K still sees the hidden partition and this is confusing it? I know =
Win2K can boot from a hidden partition?
Any thoughts on this? Help?
Thanks,
Gary
