Thanks, Lief!  I hadn't considered the compiler options as being in error,
since two other UPM calls worked immediately before the one that failed,
but I will obviously investigate it further.  I have indeed learned that
nothing is above suspicion when something weird is happening.  Like this. 
I'll try it and let you know what happens.  Thx agn! B-)
