John Ralon was overheard speaking to Gord Hannah
JR>MSGID: 1:268/438 580c3998
JR>GH> You forgot one thing John, he probably picked it up by sharing
floppies.
JR>GH> I can only speak for my system but he did not probably get it from a
BBS
JR>GH> most internet sites are squeaky clean, at least the ones I ftp from.
Onc
JR>GH> again more like sharing floppies. I do agree that there is no virus
on
JR>GH> his Motherboard.
JR>Yea, I have been surprised for the time I've been on the internet I have
JR>never picked up a virus. And theres always these warnings and tv shows
JR>about viruses on the internet. The *ONLY* place I have gotten a virus
rom
JR>was bbs's. Never the internet, other floppys, etc.. ;)
you are lucky, or perhaps just don't perform high risk dl's. i once dl'ed
what was supposedly and .avi file in zipped format, well it had a crc
problem unzipping making me somewhat suspicious so i ran f-prot, you betcha
i'd caught a cold, would have wiped my cmos.
one trojan i just read about that seems to hang out mostly at adult
sites, but could reside anywhere is a nasty little bugger called
david.exe or david7.exe. the lucky user that comes across the
david.exe bugger is treated to a detour on the internet
whereby modem sound is turned off, number outside the country is dialed
putting you back on the net inccuring substantial international phone
charges as you happily surf away. the web site i got this info from
warned to be sure to look out for more of the same.
